Delmar Gemes Simpson

Mr. Delmar Gemes Simpson, 74, husband of Mrs. Ethel Hodges Simpson, of Dobson, passed away peacefully on Tuesday September 11, 2007 at Golden Living Nursing Center. He was born in Surry County on December 13, 1932 to the late Byrd and Ruth Eller Simpson. Mr. Simpson was retired from Shield's Construction Company and was a member of New Life Baptist Church. Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Ethel Hodges Simpson of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and "Sissy" Simpson of Mt. Airy; two grandchildren Eric Snyder and Frannie Snyder; a great-granddaughter Zoe Wyatt; three brothers and two sisters-in-law Elmer Simpson of Elkin, Reggie and Grace Simpson of Jonesville and Ray and Pearl Simpson of Elkin. In addition to his parents, Mr. Simpson was preceded in death by a sister, Maude Simpson and four brothers Eugene Simpson, Claude Simpson, Noah Simpson and Calvin Simpson. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Friday at New Life Baptist Church with Brother Roger Pickett and Brother Ricky Burcham officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 7 to 9 PM at Moody-Davis Funeral Home.
