Mr. Delmer Mack Casstevens, 80, of Mt. Airy passed away Thursday, March 31, 2022, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. He was born in Surry County on December 31, 1941, to the late John Henry and Inez Beck Casstevens. Mr. Casstevens retired from Brown-Wooten and was a member of Hope Fellowship. He proudly served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Niston Casstevens; a daughter, Gloria White; sons, Terry Casstevens, Randy Casstevens and wife Erin Cannon; a grandchild, Caroline Casstevens; sisters and brothers-in-law, Malzie Beasley, Irene and Dennis Blackburn, Alene and Bill Cail; brothers and sisters-in-law, Billy and Billie Sue Casstevens, Charles and Karen Casstevens, Graham and Sandra Casstevens, Homer and Shirley Casstevens; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Casstevens was preceded in death by sisters Annie Mae Holder and Mozelle Shore; and brothers, Richard, Paul, Arvil, and Jack Casstevens. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, April 4, 2022, at Whitaker’s Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Terry Johnson and Homer Casstevens. Mr. Casstevens will lie-in-state at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy Sunday, from noon until 3:00 PM, Sunday, April 3, 2022. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to Evelyn Hornaday for the exceptional care she gave Mr. Casstevens during his illness. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Hope Fellowship Church, c/o Rev. Terry Johnson, 223 Danley Rd., Ararat, NC 27007.
