Delmer William Mills

Mr. Delmer William Mills, 76, of 382 Little Mountain Church Road, Ararat, passed away Sunday morning, September 19, 2010, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Mills was born March 14, 1934, in Surry County, son of the late Lonnie Theodore and Annie Atkins Mills. Delmer retired from Proctor-Silex Inc. after 28 years of service. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Leon Hutchens of Mount Airy; a granddaughter and her husband, Tracie and Hank Whitaker of Dobson; a grandson, Chad Hutchens of Mount Airy; two great-grandsons, Tyler Whitaker and Clay Whitaker, both of Dobson; a sister, Dorothy Martin of Westfield; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Marvin and Linda Dotson of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Mills was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou Payne Mills; and two sisters, Avis Martin and Lois Edwards. A graveside service will be held Monday, September 20, 2010, at 2:00 PM at Little Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Todd E. Byrd officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 12:30 until 1:30 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
