Denise Montgomery

Ms. Denise Montgomery, 56, of Pilot Mountain, passed away at her home on Wednesday, September 8, 2021. Ms. Montgomery was born October 1, 1964, in Surry County to Warren and Juanita Leftwich Montgomery. Denise was a loving mother, nana, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend who was a shining light to anyone who knew her. Her family was her whole world and if you knew her then you were part of her family. She was the best and most special Mama and Nana and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Left to cherish her memories are her daughter and son-in law, Courteney Mayes and Corey; son Catlin Cox; six grandchildren, Carson Cox, Zander Cox, Kennedy Cox, Jo Mayes, Jemma Mayes, June Mayes; her mother, Juanita Leftwich Montgomery; one brother and sister-in-law, Warren Montgomery, Jr. and Tammy; nephews, Nicolas Montgomery, Dillan Montgomery; significant other, Stan Golding; and special family members, Brandy Willard, Jerry and Carol Hardy. Ms. Montgomery was preceded in death by her guardian angel, her daughter, Channah Celine; her father, Warren Montgomery, Sr.; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Leftwich; many aunts and uncles. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Highland Park Baptist Church with Dr. Darrell Tate officiating. Burial will follow in the Leftwich Family Cemetery in Cana, Virginia. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at Highland Park Baptist Church from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
