Dennis Wade Faw, Jr

Dennis "Denny" Wade Faw, Jr. ~ On Sunday, March 1, 2009, Denny answered his final call and went home to be with the Lord after a courageous battle with cancer. Denny was born March 20, 1967, to Sylvia Culler Faw and Dennis "Dink" Wade Faw, Sr. In addition to his parents, Denny leaves behind to cherish his memory a brother, Benjamin Faw and his fiancee, Wendee Chappell; a special nephew, Justin Faw; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and a special pet, Max. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Woodrow and Lettie Culler and Obie and Vera Faw. Denny was a member of Park Place Baptist Church in Thomasville. He was employed by Thomas Built Buses, was a very dedicated member of the Franklin Fire Department (fire and medical divisions), and also a former member of the Hasty Fire Department in Thomasville. Denny was a kind, loving, and gentle person who will be missed by his family and friends, who are dedicated to never saying good-bye since he will forever be in our hearts. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6:00 until 8:00 at Calvary Baptist Church at 314 South Franklin Road in Mount Airy. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 4, 2009, also at the church. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Bill Faw, the Rev. Benny Faw, and the Rev. Chris Dotson. Burial will follow in Midkiff Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made in Denny Faw's name to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030. The family wishes to thank Dr. Aklilu and the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Cancer Center staff; Mountain Valley Hospice; Jill Ayers, RN; Wanda Holt, CNA; Liberty Home Care; April Cain, RN; a special aunt, Chris Vernon, who helped each and every day; and special cousin, Cindy Jones, RN, who used her personal leave time from work to care for Denny until he slipped away to go home. A very special thank you to all the firefighters who came to help us anytime we needed them for anything!
