Mr. Dennis Lionell King, age 78, of Ararat, passed away on Monday, October 19th, 2020 at his home. He was born in Stokes County on June 9th, 1942 to the late Fount and Frances Allen King. Mr. King served in the U.S. Army. He was known for his lifelong love of building and flying Gyro Copters. He later got to fulfil his dream of flying helicopters, taught by dear friend Bill Bryant. He owned and operated several Shell Stations in the Winston-Salem area for years before opening Dennis' Muffler Shop. Special thanks to his good buddy Joey who always helped at the muffler shop. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will surely be missed by all who knew him. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Vickie King; son and daughter-in-law, Jody and Kristi King; grandchildren, Kayla and Jacob King; sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Wilson Walker; nieces, Sheri Payne and Jeana Douros; as well as several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. In Addition to his parents, Mr. King was preceded in death by his daughter, Cynthia Renee King. The family would like to thank all of the following for their care and support during Mr. King's illness: Novant Oncology of Mt. Airy, Dr. Susan Hines, Michelle Combs, Northern Regional Hospital, Liberty Home Care, Advance Home Infusion, and Pharmacist Lonnie. There will be no formal services at the funeral home at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice in honor of Mr. King.
