Dennis Michael Smith

Mr. Dennis Michael Smith, age 75, of Lowgap, NC, passed away Monday morning February 6, 2023, at Northern Regional Hospital in Mount Airy, NC.  He was born April 19, 1947, in Surry County, one of three boys to the late Jasper Thomas Smith and Helen Elizabeth Isaacs Smith.  Mr. Smith was retired from the DOT as a machine operator and also proudly served our country in the US Air Force.  He was a very loving and devoted dad.  Michael was a very quiet but kind man.  Left to cherish his memory are his loving daughter, Susan Michelle Smith; a brother and two sisters-in-law, Stephen Thomas Smith and wife Anita, and Shirley Ann Smith; several nieces and nephews; the Nations family; the Aubrey Lowe family; his aunt, Mary Sue Smith and family; a special friend and mother of Susan, Faye Nations; nephew, Brandon Collins; and his special fur baby, Cali the cat.  In addition to his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by a brother, Danny Leron “Ron” Smith.  Graveside services for Mr. Smith will be held on Friday, February 10, 2023, at 2:00PM at Skyline Memory Gardens with Brother James Collins officiating.  Military honors will be provided by post 2019 Mount Airy and post 9436 Pilot Mountain.  The family would like to thank the staff of Northern Regional Hospital and the staff at 12 Oaks.  Also, a special thank you to Dr. Shih and Dr. Bathory.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, North Carolina 27017, https://www.mtnvalleyhospice.org/ways-to-give/donate/  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the Smith family.
