Dennis William Sykes

Mr. Dennis William Sykes, 60, of Lowgap passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at his home. He was born in Surry County on August 18, 1956 to Ira William “Bill” and Dora Vernell Southern Sykes. Mr. Sykes was retired from Elwood Forge. He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force. In addition to his parents Mr. Sykes is survived by his loving wife, Melissa Wallace Sykes of the home; a daughter, Andrea Sykes of Winston Salem; a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis Willis and Julie of Mocksville; a sister, Annette White of Mt. Airy; a brother and sister-in-law, Gerald Sykes and Lori of Winston Salem. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Donnie Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens with full military honors conducted by VFW Memorial Honor Guard Post 2019 of Mt. Airy and Post 9436 of Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 until time for the service at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy.
