Mr. Denville Reid Martin, age 67 of Westfield passed away Thursday, February 21, 2008 at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. Martin was born July 19, 1940 in Stokes County to the late Charles Otis and Vellie Hooker Martin. He was retired from Pike Electric and had served in the National Guard for several years. Mr. Martin is survived by two sons, Ronnie Martin and Michael Martin both of Danbury; sisters and brother-in-law Louise Jessup of Pilot Mountain, Lavinia Fouts of Thomasville, Shelby Cooke of Westfield, Linda and Billy Brindle of Pilot Mountain; brothers and sisters-in-law, Clarence and Nellie Martin of Westfield, Dewey and Linda Martin of Mt. Airy, Justin and Sharon Martin of King and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Martin was preceded in death by five brothers, Charles Lindbergh Martin, John Calvin Martin, William Thomas Martin, Ronald and Donald Martin. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, February 24, 2008 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 PM by Rev. Ricky Rogers, Rev. Wesley Flippen and Rev. Todd Byrd. Burial will follow at Asbury Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 PM, Saturday, February 23, 2008 at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030 The family would like to extend a special thanks to Shirley Jessup and Mike Field with Mountain Valley Hospice for the wonderful care they gave Mr. Martin during his illness.
