Dexter Overton

Mr. Dexter Buel Overton, age 82, of Dobson, NC passed away on Thursday February 25, 2021 at the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home.  He was born in McDowell Co. West Virginia on February 12, 1939, to Dorothy Simmons Overton and to the late James William Overton.  He was in Law Enforcement in Alexander County and was of the Baptist Faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister Elizabeth Overton, one brother Norman Dale Overton.  Surviving is his son Charles Darren Overton; sister and brother-in-law Mona and Willie Luffman, Janie and John Garris; brother Marvin and Faye Overton. A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, February 27, 2021 in the New Life Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Tim Collins, and Rev. Oscar Hill Officiating. There will be no visitation.  Moody-Davis Funeral Home is serving the Overton Family.  Due to COVID restrictions, the family requests all attendees wear a mask and practice social distancing.
