Diann White Cooksey, age 69, of Winston-Salem, NC passed away on March 6th. Ms. Cooksey was born in Surry County, North Carolina to Ova and Clyde White in November of 1951. She graduated from East Carolina University and found her purpose in life in helping others, especially through her work as a social worker. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, particularly her grandchildren, cooking, baking and helping where she could. She had a unique ability to make everyone feel welcomed and loved, which will truly be missed.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Ova, and her father, Clyde. She is lovingly survived by her sister, Scarlett Chaney and her husband, Larry; ex-husband Terry Cooksey; son, Michael Cooksey; son, Patrick Cooksey and her beloved daughter in law, Katie; three grandchildren, Hollis, Afton and Emery, who will dearly miss their Grammy; and the rest of her family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at The Barn at Heritage Farm on Friday, March 12th from 11a-2p. Please stop by at your convenience during this time. In lieu of flowers or cards, the family requests that you instead consider donating to Children’s Home Society of NC or a local animal shelter.
Due to COVID restrictions, the family requests all attendees wear a mask and practice social distancing.
