Mr. Dillard Deaton “Buck” Hiatt, age 63, of Mount Airy, passed away on Sunday evening February 12, 2023, at Colonial Care Assisted Living. He was born in Forsyth County on November 4, 1959, to Nedie Mae Handy Hiatt and the late Moure Dillard Hiatt. Buck retired from the City of Mount Airy after 30 years of service and he also proudly served our country in the US Army. Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Nedie Mae Handy Hiatt; sisters and brothers-in-law, Annie and Tommy Jefferson, and Becky and Kevin Goins; Johnny and Millie Hiatt; two nieces and three nephews; and the staff and residents of Colonial Care . In addition to his father, Buck was preceded in death by his stepfather, Johnny William Hiatt, Sr.; grandparents, Jessie and Elvie Hiatt, Mindy Hiatt, and Burley Handy; and one infant sister, Bessie Hiatt. Graveside services will be held on Saturday February 18, 2023, at 11:00AM at the People’s Church Cemetery with the Brother Michael Harrell officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:30AM ~ 10:30AM. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the Hiatt family.
