Dillard Clayton Nester

Mr. Dillard Clayton Nester, age 77, of Ararat, Virginia passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family.  Mr. Nester was born in Patrick County, Virginia on January 15, 1946, to the late Elvin Clayton and Lettie Collins Nester.  Dillard proudly served his country in the United States Army.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.  He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Janet May Bowman Nester; two sons and daughter-in-law, Bobby Nester and friend Jennifer Wright, Stephen Nester and wife Laura; four grandchildren, Braden Nester and Tristan, Samantha Dalton and Nick, Joseph Nester, Jacob Nester; two great grandchildren, Boone Nester, Brantlee Hayton Nester, Baby Boy Nester (coming soon); three sisters and brothers-in-laws, Mary Lou Nester Mitchell and William, Katherine Nester Thorpe and Michael, Patricia Nester Lucas and Layton; two brothers and sister-in-law, Dwayne Nester and Jane, Randy Nester; sisters-in-law, Lois Nester, Carolyn Nester; along with several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Nester was preceded in death by two brothers, James Nester, and Junior Nester.  A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Doe Run Baptist Church Cemetery in Ararat, Virginia with Rev. Terry Vaughn officiating.  Interment will follow in Doe Run Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors conducted by the VFW Honor Guard, Post 2019 Mount Airy and Post 9436 Pilot Mountain.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at Doe Run Baptist Church from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
