Dixie Bernard "Bernie" Hawks, III

Mr. Dixie “Bernie” Bernard Hawks, III, 69 of Lambsburg, Virginia, passed away, Thursday, December 24, 2020 at the VA Medical Center in Salem, Virginia.  Mr. Hawks was born in Moore County, North Carolina on December 24, 1951 to the late Dixie Bernard Hawks, Jr and Jewel Dorothy Calloway Hawks Jordan.  Dixie proudly served our country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam conflict.   He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend.  He loved his family and community and will be deeply missed by all.  Left to cherish his memories are his sons and daughters-in-law, Neal Hawks and wife Jennifer, Phil Hawks and wife Crystal; grandchildren and spouses, Haley Edmonds and Lucas, Hayden Hawks, Hadassah Hawks, Branson France and Creed Hawks; a special granddaughter, Kaitlyn Holdaway, brothers and sisters-in-law, David Hawks and wife Linda, Edward Jordon and wife Denise; step-father Ray Jordon; and special cousin, Sheila Calloway. Mr. Hawks was preceded in death by his parents.  A funeral service will be held at Lambsburg Christian Church on December 31, 2020 at 11 AM with his sons officiating.  Burial will follow in the Chestnut Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.  Family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at Lambsburg Christian Church.  Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy is serving the family.  In lieu of flowers, donation may be made (in person) at the Lambsburg Christian Church, for the Dale Hawks Good Neighbor Fund, or mailed to: 409 Welcome Baptist Church Road, Mount Airy, North Carolina, 27030.
