Mr. Dixie Robert Haynes, 35, of Roaring River, passed away unexpectedly on Monday morning, January 30, 2017, at his home. Mr. Haynes was born January 2, 1982, in Surry County, the youngest of two children born to Phillip Gene and Karen Ann Towe Haynes. Dixie graduated from North Surry High School in 2000 and Surry Community College in 2002. He was a refrigeration mechanic at Frank Welch and Sons Company, Inc. and a member of Faith Baptist Church. Dixie will be remembered by his family and friends as a fanatic of R.C. cars. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer “Jenny” Walker Haynes of the home; his parents, Phillip Gene and Karen Ann Towe Haynes of Mount Airy; a sister and brother-in-law, Alison and Shay Hornaday of Mount Airy; his maternal grandmother, Betty Jo Collins of Cana, VA; an uncle, Timothy John Towe of Cana, VA; four aunts, Rita Johnson and her husband, Billy, and Gypsy Surratt Haynes, all of Mount Airy, Sandy Caudle of King, and Carolyn Bode of Dobson; his mother-in-law, Evelyn “Sissy” Willey Walker of Mount Airy; his father-in-law, Randy Walker of Mount Airy; a sister-in-law, Becky Walker Ring of Mount Airy; a niece and two nephews, Rachel Ring, Tyler Ring, and Ethan Ring; many cousins; his best friend, Roy Vestal “Rocky” Penn of Winston-Salem; and many fur babies. Dixie was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Homer “T.H.” Towe; and his paternal grandparents, Charlie Buxton and Bertie Creed Haynes. The funeral service will be held Friday, February 3, 2017, at 2:00 PM at Faith Baptist Church, with the Rev. Randy Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in the Flat Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Faith Baptist Church. At other times, the family welcomes friends to the home of his sister and brother-in-law, Alison and Shay Hornaday. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Wilkes, P.O. Box 306, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
