Mrs. Dixie Harrell Byrum Showers, age 84 of Mt. Airy, NC formerly of Richmond, VA died Friday, November 2, 2007 in Mt. Airy. Mrs. Showers was born, January 14, 1923 in Chowan County, NC to the late Luther and Pattie Harrell. She was preceded in death by her first husband Roscum Lee Byrum and her second husband John Walter Showers; and brothers, Luther, Roy, Charles and Walter Harrell and a sister Josephine Barrier. She is survived by three sons: Wayne Byrum and wife Ann of Onley, VA, Dan Showers of Richmond, VA, Rev. Fred Showers and wife Kathy of Saltillo, MS; four daughters, Sandy and husband Dr. Bob Smith of Mt. Airy, Johnna Lee Showers and husband Bruce Cruser of Richmond, VA, Mimi and husband Dr. Winslow Melvin, of Winterville, NC, D-Jo and husband Bob Emmel of Naperville, IL.
