D.J. Anderson McKnight

Mr. D.J. Anderson McKnight, 78, of Brown Mountain Road, Pilot Mountain, passed away Monday, July 2, 2007, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. McKnight was born October 18, 1928, in Surry County, to the late Samuel Albert McKnight and Macy Midkiff McKnight. He served our country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. D.J. was retired from Denny & Associates and a member of Jessup Grove Baptist Church. Mr. McKnight is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Dale James McKnight, Sr. of Mount Airy and Tim and Margie McKnight of Lithonia, GA; grandchildren, Dale James McKnight, Jr. and wife, Ashley, Landon Hall, Bryan Musick, Brittany Reagan, Zachary Reagan, Savannah Reagan, Noah Buff, Christopher Sanders, Chris Sanders, and Hidee Reagan; a great grandchild, Kamdyn Anderson McKnight; a sister, Kathryn Ashburn of Mount Airy; a brother, Steve McKnight of Mars Hill; and a special friend, Lynda Winesett of Pinnacle. In addition to his parents, Mr. McKnight was preceded in death by his wife, Fannie Sutphin McKnight; and a brother, Albert McKnight. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 4, 2007, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Roger Vaden, and burial will follow in the Jessup Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
