Dolly Grayson Cockerham

Mrs. Dolly Grayson Galyean Cockerham, 83, of Lowgap, passed away at Surry Community Health and Rehab, Tuesday, February 15, 2022.  She was born in Surry County, April 16, 1938, to the late Randle Blain and Nina Inez Galyean Cockerham.  Mrs. Cockerham always greeted you with her warm smile that made you feel special and cared about.  She was a loving mother, and grandmother with strong faith and dedication to her family and church as long as her health permitted.  Left to cherish her memory are her children, Vicky Lowe and husband, Aubrey, Bryan Cockerham and wife, Tracy; grandchildren and spouses, Amy Harrison and Phillip, Mandi Lawson and Tracy Edwards, Megan Daughenbaugh and Perry, Katelyn Cockerham, Kayla Edmonds, Fisher Cockerham; great grandchildren, Hunter Snow, Haley Snow, Hannah Harrison Gerber, Jacob Harrison, Waylon Daughenbaugh, Kinsley Daughenbaugh, Jessa Daughenbaugh, Rylen Wilson, Henley Cockerham, Gaige Mitchell, Mason Edmonds, Lincoln Edmonds; great-great grandchildren, Jack Nathaniel Gerber, and Tyde David Snow; a sister-in-law, Etoile Galyean; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cockerham was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Dean “Joe” Cockerham; infant daughter, Tammy Jo Cockerham; sisters, Lena Brown, Ray Phelps, June Galyean; and brothers, Wayne, Buford, Hope, Mont, and Bill Galyean.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM at Mountain View Baptist Church Sunday, February 20, 2022, with Rev. Ewell Vernon officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will accept friends at the church on Sunday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.  Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Mountain View Baptist Church, Cemetery Fund, P.O.
