Dolly Jessup Gunnell

Mrs. Dolly Lucille Jessup Gunnell, 81, of Mt. Airy passed away Saturday, January 27, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in Surry County on January 26, 1943, to the late Spencer and Audrey Tilley Jessup. She was retired from Bank of America after many years of service and was a member of Haymore Memorial Baptist Church. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Shannon Gunnell; grandson, Blake Gunnell; great granddaughter, Kazleigh Gunnell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Ralph Columbus Gunnell, Jr., the love of her life; sisters, Polly McMillian, Ollie Jessup, two brothers, James Jessup and Royce Jessup. The family wants to thank Dolly’s caregivers, Barbara Shelton, Ruby East, Vivian Patterson, and Wanda Hawks, for their love and care during Dolly’s illness.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 30, 2024, 2:00 PM, at Moody Funeral Home of Mount Airy with Rev. Richard Loman officiating. Interment will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
