Don Lloyd Francis

Mr. Don Lloyd Francis, 72, of 529 East Jackson Road Extension, Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2007, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Francis was born February 10, 1935, in Surry County, to the late Herbert and Dora Joyce Francis. Lloyd proudly served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1960 and was a member of the Four Way Volunteer Fire Department for many years. He retired from Duke Energy after 35 years of service and was a member of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Norma Tilley Francis of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Dwight and Karen Francis of Charlotte; three grandchildren, Meredith Francis, Luke Francis, and Philip Francis, all of Charlotte; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Lena and Harvey Gordon of King, Barbara Simmons of Mount Airy, and Ruby and Ronda Smith of Stokesdale; and a brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Sandra Francis of Pilot Mountain. In addition to his parents, Mr. Francis was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Francis Everhart; and a brother, Wade Francis. The funeral service will be held Friday, December 28, 2007, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by Brother Wayne Williamson and Keith Smith, and burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
