Donald Gray Collins

Mr. Donald Gray Collins, 75, of Claudville, Virginia passed away Thursday, September 14, 2023, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem.  He was born in Patrick County Virginia on November 13, 1947, to the late Harry and Gertrude Hooker Collins.  Mr. Collins was a Product Engineer, and a member of the Fellowship Church in Ararat, Virginia.  He was a loving husband, and father who will be dearly missed.  He had a wonderful sense of humor.  He enjoyed playing golf and fishing with his friends.  Mr. Collins was an excellent woodworker who enjoyed making furniture for his home and family.  He was a boy scout leader that influenced many boys, and a member of Red Bank Ruitian Club.  Mr. Collins proudly served our country for three years in the United States Army and did his tour in Vietnam.  He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Surratt Collins; a son, Christopher Collins; a sister and brother-in-law, Connie and Donnie Gray; a sister-in-law, Patsy and her husband Mack Collins; special cousin, Debbie and Johnny Marion; special nieces and nephews; special friends, Clyde and Sheri Haymore, Kay and Barry Culp, Tom and Judy Riggs, and his beloved puppy, Bella.  A memorial service will be held Sunday, September 17, 2023, at Bethel Presbyterian Church in Claudville, Virginia at 3:00 PM with Pastor Stewart Mauck officiating and military honors conducted by VFW Post 2019 of Mt. Airy and Post 9436 of Pilot Mountain.  The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:30 until 3:00 PM at the church.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Disabled Veterans at help.dav.org.  Moody Funeral Home in Mt.
