Donald Mickey Dobson

Mr. Donald Mickey Dobson, 76, of Boonville, passed away early Saturday morning, March 4, 2017, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Dobson was born November 25, 1940, in Forsyth County, one of two children born to the late Joe and Mable Vivian Collins Dobson. Donald proudly served our country in the United States Navy from 1958 until 1962. He retired as a construction supervisor from J.G. Coram Company, Inc. after many years of service. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Minerva Ann Rothenberger Dobson of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Jeff Lowe of Boonville; a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Kathy Dobson of Elkin; and two grandchildren, Joshua Lowe and Anna Nicole Lowe, both of Boonville. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dobson was preceded in death by a sister, Janice Dobson Gerlach. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Lee Johnson officiating. At the conclusion of the memorial service, military honors will be conducted by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. A private inurnment will take place at Oakdale Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
