Donald Ray Haynes

Mr. Donald Ray Haynes, 80, of Mount Airy, passed away Thursday morning, September 27, 2018, at his home.  Mr. Haynes was born September 29, 1937, in Surry County, the son of the late William Edgar “Bill” and Kate Blue Haynes.  Donald served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  He worked as a contract salesman for many years at Lowe’s Home Improvements and Riverside Building Supply.  He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lien Do Ngoc Haynes of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Summer and Chris Frye of Mount Airy; a son, Anthony Ray Haynes of Mount Airy; five grandchildren, Devin Burnett, Kelsey Frye, Taylor Haynes Ryan Frye, and Riley Frye, all of Mount Airy; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Iris Hodge of Woodbridge, VA, Betty Easter of Blairsville, GA, and Catherine and Buddy Creed of Lowgap; a brother and two sisters-in-law, Archie and Norma Haynes and Lillie Mae Haynes, all of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Haynes was preceded in death by two sisters, Ann Cave and Agnes Chilton; and two brothers, William Haynes and Arnold Haynes.  The funeral service will be held Sunday, September 30, 2018, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Hank Robertson and Paul J. Bunke officiating.  Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens, with military honors by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard.  The family will receive friends Sunday from 12:30 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.  At other times, the family welcomes friends to the home of Summer and Chris Frye at 132 Crystal Waters Lane, Mount Airy.
