Donald Joseph Kidder, Sr

Mr. Donald Joseph Kidder, Sr., 74, of Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Kidder was born March 14, 1943, in Cumberland County, to the late Donald Wayne Kidder and Marie Thompson Acus. He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force. Mr. Kidder is survived by his wife, Linda Wright Kidder; two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald Joseph Kidder, Jr. and Althea and Dale Lee Kidder and Emily; six grandchildren, Kristy Marie Kidder, Donald Joseph Kidder, III, Colby Lee Kidder, Dale Andrew Kidder, Mason Lee Kidder, and Emma Grey Kidder; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Donna Edge and Sylvia Jean Goad; a brother, Frank Acus, Jr.; several nieces and nephews; and a very special great nephew, Brandon “Boo Boo” Snow. In addition to his parents, Mr. Kidder was preceded in death by a sister, Debbie “Big Deb” Acus. The funeral service will be held Thursday, August 31, 2017, at 12:30 PM at New Hope Baptist Church, with the Rev. Trent Lyons, the Rev. Bill Watson, and the Rev. Harold Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, with military honors by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Thursday from 11:00 until 12:30 PM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017. Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy is serving the family.
