Donald Joe Lynch

Mr. Donald Joe Lynch, 85, of Ararat, passed away Sunday morning, March 19, 2023, at Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, TN.  Mr. Lynch was born November 12, 1937, in Surry County, the older of two sons born to the late Ralph and Bernice Olivia “Lib” Nunn Lynch.  Donald retired from Perry Manufacturing after many years of service.  He was a Christian and a vital part of Highland Park Baptist Church.  Donald served in many capacities through the years, including a faithful deacon and a member of the Daycare Advisory Board.  Mr. Lynch was also a dedicated member of the Blue Ridge Campers Club for more than 40 years.  In his spare time, he loved fishing, camping, traveling, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Glennice Key Lynch of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Joe Mellow of Pinnacle and Melanie and Randy Hudson of Mount Airy; six grandchildren, Brittany Mellow Hardy and her husband, Mitchell, Jordan Lynch, Dr. Tyler Hudson and his wife, Michelle, the Rev. Tanner Hudson and his wife, Allie, Carson Mellow, and Hanna Lynch; seven great-grandchildren, Elin Hardy, Adilyn Hardy, Liam Lynch, Trevor Hudson, Haven Hudson, Trace Hudson, and Rory Hudson; and a brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Shirley Lynch of King.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Lynch was preceded in death by a son, Derrick Chad Lynch.  A service of worship and celebration of Donald’s life will be held Saturday, April 1, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Highland Park Baptist Church, with Dr. Darrell Tate and the Rev. Tanner Hudson officiating.  A private inurnment will be held a later date.  The family will receive friends Saturday, April 1, 2023, from 12:00 until 2:00 PM at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Highland Park Baptist Church Building Fund, 1327 Grove Lane, Mount Airy, NC  27030.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
