Donald Ray Griffin

Mr. Donald Ray Griffin, age 85, of Mount Airy passed away Tuesday evening July 10, 2024, at his home with his family by his side. Mr. Griffin was born in Surry County on August 12, 1938, to the late James Gossie Griffin and Dorothy Aileen Fleming Griffin. He loved carp fishing, shooting pool; especially snooker, and Carolina Panthers football. Mr. Griffin retired from ITT Grinell. Surviving Mr. Griffin are his daughters and sons-in-law, Libby and Manford Money, Donna Lynn and Kenneth Smith; grandchildren, Robert “Eric” Jones, Elizabeth “Nicole” Jones, Scotty Lee Smith, and Donna “Marie” Reid; great grandchildren, Kyra Brooke Smith, Christian Alexander “Alex” Smith, Maisie Rhae Reid, Brooklyn Alyse Jones, and Parker Elizabeth Phillips; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara Love and Mike; brother-in-law, Osler Jenkins. In addition to his parents, Mr. Griffin was preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years, Marylene Puckett Griffin; sister, Magalene Jenkins; brothers, Bobby James Griffin and Junior Carl Griffin; great grandchild, Cayden Seth Morton. Funeral Services will be held on Monday July 15, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy with the Rev. Dale Hawks officiating. Burial will follow at White Plains Baptist Church on July 15, 2024. The family will receive friends at Moody’s in Mount Airy July 15, 2024, from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM and at other times at the home of Libby Money 902 Hunter Drive, Mount Airy, North Carolina 27030. Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice. Moody’s of Mount Airy is respectfully serving the Griffin family.
