Donald Ray Rigney

Mr. Donald Ray "Don" Rigney, 63, of Hillsville, VA, formerly of Cana, VA, passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2009, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Rigney was born September 30, 1946, in Carroll County, VA, to the late Gilford Lee and Ruby Virginia Westmoreland Rigney. Don retired from Cross Creek Apparel and was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church since 1994. He is survived by a sister, Libby Rigney of Cana, VA; two brothers, Tony Rigney of Mount Airy and William Henley "W.H." Rigney of Hillsville, VA; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Rigney was preceded in death by a sister, Violet Esther Henley; a great nephew, Dylan Casstevens; and a sister-in-law, Carol Rigney. The funeral service will be held Friday, November 27, 2009, at 2:00 PM at Epworth United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dennis W. "Bud" Cameron, the Rev. Tommy Vass, and the Rev. Larry Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where his body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state one hour prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
