Donald "Tastey" Johnson Hooker

Mr. Donald “Tastey” Johnson Hooker, age 84, of Pilot Mountain, passed away on Friday, February 18, 2022 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson surrounded by his family.  He was born in Surry County on May 3, 1937 to the late Johnny “Edd” and Lillian Johnson Hooker.  He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will surely be missed by all who knew him.  Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 63 years, Noretta Jessup Hooker; daughter and son-in-law, Donita and Kevin Needham; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Libby Hooker; grandchildren, Marla Galyean and husband Joshua, Grace Needham, Matthew Johnson Needham; great-grandchildren, Landon and Knox Galyean; brother and sisters-in-law,  Danny and Linda Hooker, Sandra Hooker. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hooker was preceded in death by a brother, Douglas Hooker.  A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Jessup Grove Baptist Church with services conducted by Rev. Alan Branch.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 9:30 until time for the service at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jessup Grove Cemetery Fund, 896 Jessup Grove Church Rd., Pilot Mountain, NC 27041.
