Mr. Donald Gray Wilmoth, 62, of Cana, VA, passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2011, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Wilmoth was born March 19, 1948, in Carroll County, VA, to Lester and Opal Strickland Wilmoth. He served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was the owner/operator of D. and L. Equipment and Tire Company. Surviving are his devoted wife, Laura Mae Pack Wilmoth of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Angela and Danny Golding, Robin and Greg Slate, and Shannon Wilmoth and her fiancé, Roger Ayers, all of Mount Airy; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Lee Wilmoth and Dustin and Amanda Gammons Wilmoth, all of Cana, VA; eight grandchildren, Jacob Hall, Sierra Golding, Joseph Slate, Luke Slate, Brooke Graves, Danielle Ayers, Samuel Wilmoth, and Emma Wilmoth; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Judy and Gary Sandlin of Advance, Paula and Billy Tate of Fancy Gap, VA, Carolyn Bowman of East Bend, and Cathy Wilmoth Macy of Mount Airy; and a special aunt, Esther Harris Lowe. In addition to his parents, Mr. Wilmoth was preceded in death by a sister, Pamela Wilmoth; and a brother, Tommy Wilmoth. The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 12, 2011, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with David Turner and Dale Pack officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens, with military honors by VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Vietnam Veterans of America, Granite City Chapter #1021, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
