Mr. Donnie Louis Jarvis of 106 Grant Street, Dobson, N.C. departed his earthly life on September 15th, 2008, following an extended illness at the Veteran's Hospital in Salisbury, N.C.
He was born in Surry County, the son of the (late Charlie Jarvis Jr.) and Robena Jarvis.
Donnie was a graduate of Surry Central High School.
He was a decorated veteran of the Vietnamese War. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. Prior to service related illness Donnie worked in a variety of areas, including the Granite Rock Quarry in Mt. Airy, and landscaping.
Donnie was preceded in death by his father (Charlie Jarvis Jr.), a brother (Charles D Jarvis), and a sister (Kathryn Jarvis Penn).
Left to cherish his memory is his loving son Sanchez Damone Jarvis (of the home),
his mother F. Robena Jarvis (Dobson, N.C.), .Two sisters Doris E. Green (Forestville MD), Sheila S. Jarvis (Charlotte, N.C.), a sister in law Virginia Jarvis (Mt. Airy), Three aunts - Melzetta Heaggans (John) of Statesville, N.C., Geneva Clark(Gene) of Statesville, N.C. and Mildred Tenor of Forestville MD. Also left to cherish his memory is a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The funeral service will be held at 3PM Sunday in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home and burial to follow in Dobson City Cemetery with Military Honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Honor Guard Mt. Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made to V.F.W. Honor Guard Post 2019, 1056 North Main Street Mount Airy, NC 27030. Moody-Davis Funeral Home is serving the Jarvis family.
