Donnie Johnson

Mr. Donnie Johnson, 55, of 134 Cougar Trail, Lowgap, passed away Saturday morning, August 22, 2009, at his home. Mr. Johnson was born November 29, 1953, in Surry County, to the late Johnny Fred and Foye Beulah Goodson Johnson. Donnie worked at Proctor-Silex Inc. for nearly 25 years and The L.S. Starrett Company for 10 years. He is survived by a daughter, Heather Johnson and her fiance, Blake Collins, of Mount Airy; a granddaughter, Karleigh Collins of Mount Airy; a sister, Verba Lowe of Lowgap; a brother and sister-in-law, Woodie and Eula Johnson of Siloam; a niece, Sherry Lowe of Lowgap; and two nephews and their wives, Kevin and Lindsay Johnson of Raleigh and Kris and Angie Johnson of Dobson. In addition to his parents, Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Wallace Gray and Helen Hawks Johnson; and a brother-in-law, Billy Dean Lowe. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 26, 2009, at 2:00 PM at Roaring Gap Baptist Church, with the Rev. Joe Atkins, the Rev. Robert Farmer, and the Rev. Bill Spurlin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, and other times at the Johnson home, 134 Cougar Trail, Lowgap.
