Dora Elizabeth Tayman Coble Gwyn

Mrs. Dora Elizabeth Tayman Coble Gwyn, 71, of Mount Airy, passed away early Tuesday morning, February 1, 2022, at Northern Regional Hospital.  Mrs. Gwyn was born January 10, 1951, in Surry County, the only child born to the late Lloyd Trevillane and Frances Irene Taylor Tayman.  Dora worked at Spencer’s Inc. for many years.  Later, she worked part-time at Renfro Corporation, Northern Regional Hospital, and most recently American Healthcare Services.  Mrs. Gwyn was a member of First Baptist Church in Mount Airy.  She is survived by her sons, Larry Dean Coble and James Cletus Coble, Jr. and his wife, Pennie Manley; a stepson, Clinton Eli Gwyn, Jr. and his wife, Cindy Stover Gwyn; and numerous cousins, other relatives, and friends.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gwyn was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton Eli Gwyn, Sr.; a stepdaughter, Beverly Dianna Gwyn; and her grandparents, Tyre and Ida Elizabeth Moss Taylor and Ralph and Dora Pugh Tayman.  A graveside service will be held Thursday, February 3, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Jay Meadows and Dr. Roger B. Gilbert officiating.  No formal visitation will be held.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 714 North Main Street, Mount Airy, NC  27030.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
