Dora Virginia Galyean Swiney

Mrs. Dora Virginia Galyean Swiney, 62, of 1298 Ramey Creek Road, Lowgap, passed away Tuesday April 28, 2009, at her home. Mrs. Swiney was born November 9, 1946, in Surry County, to the late Jim and Bertha McRoberts Galyean. She was a homemaker and a member of Welcome Home Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Earl Gentry of Lowgap; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Christene Swiney of Dobson; six grandchildren, Ashley Swiney, Ryan Swiney, Anthony Swiney, Shelby Flinchum, Levi Arthur, and Laken Arthur; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Nina and Elwood Hawks and Hattie and Sherman Tompkins, all of Lowgap; two brothers, Troy Galyean of Lowgap and James Galyean of Mount Airy; and a special nephew, Donald Galyean of Lowgap. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Swiney was preceded in her husband, James Swiney; two brothers, Linwood Galyean and Iva J. Galyean; a half-sister, Margie McFauls; and two half-brothers, Roy Galyean and Foy Galyean. The funeral service will be held Thursday, April 30, 2009, at 2:00 PM at Charity Baptist Church, with the Rev. John Kinder officiating. Burial will follow in the Galyean Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Charity Baptist Church.
