Doris Inez Atkins

Mrs. Doris Inez Bennett Atkins, 86, of Mt. Airy went home to be with her lord and savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at Dunmore Plantation in Dobson. She was born in Surry County on December 18, 1934, to the late Frank James and Nellie Lucinda Quesinberry Bennett. Mrs. Atkins was a retired Secretary from Franklin Elementary School, and was a member of Fancy Gap Baptist Church. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Vera Atkins, Chris and Dalette Atkins; grandchildren, Lauren and Zach Dillon; great granddaughters, Caroline Dillon, and Rose Dillon; a brother, Wayne Douglas Bennett; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Atkins was preceded in death by her husband, Lacy McIver Atkins; sisters, infant Hassie Pauline Bennett, and Irene Fay Bennett Jones; a brother, Billy Elmo Bennett. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at 2:00 pm at Moody Funeral home Chapel with the Rev. Doug Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in Quesinberry-Bobbitt Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 until 2:00 pm at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to ASPCA at P.O.
