Doris Margie Love Bowman

Mrs. Doris Margie Love Bowman died Tuesday, February 28, 2012, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. She was born June 29, 1930, in Surry County, to the late Aldie L. and Margie Vaughn Love. Doris had been married to O.L. Bowman for 62 years. They have two sons, Joe Bowman and his wife, June, of Wendell and Mark Bowman and his wife, Cindy, of Greensboro; two daughters, Laura Brock of Mount Airy and Margie Abbitt and her husband, Mac, of Lakeville, IN; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Doris worshiped with First Presbyterian Church for 62 years and later became a charter member of Covenant Reformed Presbyterian Church of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bowman is preceded in death by a son-in-law, Randy Brock; and a brother, Col. Warren G. "Fed" Love. The funeral service will be held Saturday, March 3, 2012, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Brenton Ferry officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakdale Cemetery. There will be no formal visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Covenant Reformed Presbyterian Church, 495 South Franklin Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030 and any food items can be given to Yokefellow Food Pantry. Doris expressed her appreciation to her caregivers for the past several years, her husband, O.L., Dr. Nelson Gardner, Suzanne Brock, and Douglas Driskill. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
