Mrs. Doris Priddy Bunker, 86, of Mount Airy, passed away Saturday morning, May 6, 2023, at Dunmore Plantation in Dobson. Mrs. Bunker was born February 25, 1937, in Stokes County, to the late William Cornelius and Vina Elizabeth Mabe Priddy. Doris retired from Hanes Knitting Company after many years of service. She is survived by three daughters, Darlene Faye Bunker, Brenda Bunker Arnold, and Nancy Bunker; a son, Vernon James Bunker; three grandchildren, Stephanie Bunker Bowman, Ryan Bunker, and Ashley Arnold Morris; six great-grandchildren; six sisters, Clarice Belton, Margie Shelton, Maxine Hilton, Diane Collins, Glenda Shelton, and Gail Priddy; two brothers, Bill Priddy and Talmadge Priddy; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bunker was preceded in death by her husband, James Calvin “Jim” Bunker; twin sons, Brian Neal Bunker and Bradford Stephen Bunker; a sister, Ruby Tuggle; two brothers, Elmer Cornelius Priddy and Garland Junior Priddy; and her beloved dog, Teddy. The funeral service will be held Thursday, May 11, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with Bro. Davis Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
