Doris Marie Martin Cooke

Mrs. Doris Marie Martin Cooke, 78, of 302 Ararat-Longhill Road, Pilot Mountain, passed away Thursday, December 11, 2008, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Cooke was born December 25, 1929, in Stokes County, to the late John Robert and Lula Ann Smith Martin. She was a homemaker, retired from Perry's Manufacturing, and a member of Woodville Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Penny and Eddie Dean Arrington of Mount Airy and Cindy and Tim Sharpe of Canton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Perry and Alice Cooke and Tim and Diane Cooke, all of Pilot Mountain; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Steve and Emily Cooke of Kernersville, David Cooke and Amanda Evans of Pilot Mountain, Jennifer and Daniel Collins of Ararat, Jessica Arrington and Brandon Hamm of Mount Airy, Dakota Sharpe, Levi Sharpe, and Chayton Sharpe, all of Canton; three great-grandchildren, Natalie Cooke, Eli Cooke, and Hatcher Hamm; two expectant great-grandchildren, Connor Lee Collins and Kylie Rose Marie Cooke; a sister and brother-in-law, Ella Mae and Leon Cain of Mount Airy; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Raymond Martin of Greensboro, Billy and Rada Martin and Faye Martin, all of Westfield. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cooke was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Marion Cooke; three sisters, Gladys Cole, Francis Wright, and Joy Lee Anderson; and two brothers, Graham Martin and Alger Martin. The funeral service will be held Sunday, December 14, 2008, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Keith Love, and burial will follow in the Woodville Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday night from 7:00 to 9:00 at the funeral home.
