Doris Mayes Gentry

Ms. Doris Mayes Gentry, 85, of Dobson, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. Ms. Gentry was born August 4, 1924, in Surry County, to Floyd Dennis and Mattie Galyean Mayes. She was a loving homemaker who will be dearly missed. Surviving are a sister-in-law, Hassie Jarrell of Lowgap; nieces, Shirley Payne and her husband, Larry, Nedra Edwards, and Nelvra Dozier and her husband, Earl, all of Dobson; nephews, Dennis Mayes and his wife, Rita, and Delane Mayes, all of Dobson; and several great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Ms. Gentry was preceded in death by a brother, Curtis Hoover Mayes; and a nephew, David Mayes. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, March 11, 2010, at Ladonia Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
