Doris Jeane Hawks

Mrs. Doris Jeane Surratt Hawks, 88, of Yadkinville passed away Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem. She was born in Carroll County Virginia on January 28, 1933, to the late Ivy Olen Surratt and Ila Faye Hawks Cockerham. Mrs. Hawks retired from Perry Manufacturing. She was a loving mother, and sister who will be dearly missed. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Mark Brown; sisters and brother-in-law, Patty Mauldin, Norma and Hugh Kearney; a brother, Carl Surratt; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hawks was preceded in death by her husband, John William “JW” Hawks; a sister, Ivalee Gunnell; brothers and sisters-in-law, Harlie and Arlene Surratt, Horace Surratt, Donald and Pauline Surratt; a brother-in-law, Max Mauldin. A funeral service will be held Sunday, December 12, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tim Webb officiating. Burial will follow in Flat Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 12:30 until 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy. Due to COVID-19 concerns, the family ask that attendees wear a face mask.
