Doris Thomas Lovill

Mrs. Doris Thomas Lovill, 78, of 135 Valleyview Drive, Mount Airy, passed away Monday, April 27, 2009, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Lovill was born June 30, 1930, daughter of the late Rufus G. and Allie Marshall Thomas. She retired from Mount Airy OB-GYN Center and was a member of Fancy Gap Baptist Church. Surviving are a son, Charles Michael Lovill of Mount Airy; a granddaughter, Kimberly Lovill Gilbert and husband, Glenn, of Mount Airy; a grandson, John Michael Lovill and wife, Jennifer, of Mount Airy; three great-grandchildren, Kaine Michael Lovill, Kamber Shay Lovill, and Ashleigh Lauren Gilbert; a sister, Margaret Dollyhigh of Mount Airy; and a brother and sister-in-law, James and Estelle Thomas of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lovill was preceded in death by her husband, Charles William Lovill; an infant son, John Garland Lovill; and three sisters, Mary Smith, Arlene Beasley, and Clara Ayers. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at 4:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Dwight Sechrist, and burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
