Doris Bell Nichols Thompson

Mrs. Doris Bell Nichols Thompson, 78, of Mount Airy, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2009, at her home. Mrs. Thompson was born April 22, 1931, in Surry County, to the late John Leland and Mabel Childress Nichols. She retired from Spencer's Inc. and was a member of White Plains Friends Meeting. Mrs. Thompson is survived by her husband, Bobby Thompson of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Tamara and Lewis Davis of Mount Airy; a granddaughter and her spouse, Kaysa and Bobby Wilmoth of Mount Airy; a grandson, Richard Davis and his special friend, Mandy Fultz of Mount Airy; five great-grandchildren, Josh Wilmoth, Justin Wilmoth, Jacob Wilmoth, Isaac Davis, and Katelin Davis; four sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary Smith of Cana, VA, Kay Nichols of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Pearl and Randy Page of Durham, and Nell Pardue of Mount Airy; and a brother, Albert Nichols of Westfield. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 6, 2009, at White Plains Friends Meeting Cemetery, with the Rev. Wayne Davis officiating. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy on Saturday from 9:30 AM until the time to depart for the cemetery for the service. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Franklin Volunteer Fire Department and First Responders and the staff of Surry County Emergency Medical Services.
