Dorothy Mae Cave

Mrs. Dorothy Mae Branch Cave, age 90, of Dobson, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Pruitt Healthcare. She was born November 13, 1928 in Surry County to the late James Hardin and Mary Bet Jones Branch. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Kenneth Ray Payne and George Washington Cave; daughters, Gaynell Hayslip and infant daughter, Janice Payne; son, Kenneth Craig Payne; and twelve brothers and sisters. Mrs. Cave was a retired CNA and homemaker and the best biscuit maker in Surry County.  She was also the last living member of Fisher River Primitive Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy (Richard) Pegram and Pat (Mickey) Brooks; sons and daughter-in-law, Tony (Patsy) Payne and Jody Payne; grandchildren, Heather Perry, Kim Cave, Donnie Hayslip, Brandon Brooks, Melissa Hill, Anna Blevins, Matthew Payne and Morgan Payne; step-grandchildren, Adam Pegram and Ryan Jones; sixteen great-grandchildren; and her brother, Eugene Branch. Visitation will be Thursday, May 16, 2019 from 6-8 PM at Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson. The funeral will be Friday, May 17, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the Moody-Davis Chapel with Bro. Mickey Brooks, Elder Ivan Payne and Bro. Josh Blevins officiating. Interment will follow in the Fisher River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family would like to extend a special thanks to her caregivers at Pruitt Healthcare.  Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Fisher River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Kathy Pegram, 4058 Pleasant Ridge Road, State Road, NC 28676.
