Dorothy Jean Clifton

Ms. Dorothy Jean "Dot" Welch Clifton age 81 of 542 Allred Mill Road, Mt. Airy, NC passed away Sunday, April 1, 2012 at Northern Hospital of Surry County. She was born April 30, 1930 in Surry County to the late George H. and Jessie Belton Welch, Sr. She was retired from the Wilkes County Social Services Department and was a former member of Wilkesboro Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-laws; Kathryn C. Triplett and Steven, Sherrills Ford, Kim C. Penley and Rick, Hickory; a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth L. Clifton and Gaye, Greensboro; six grandchildren, four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Margaret and Al Tolbert, Mt. Airy, Pat Kinney, Mt. Holly, Jane Cook and Lynn, Ararat, NC, and Nancy Welch, Lewisville; two brothers and sisters-in-laws, Frank Welch and Jerri, Mt. Airy, Joe and Gail Welch, Cary. In addition to her parents, Ms. Clifton was preceded in death by three sisters, Peggy Welch, Jessica Allred and LaRue Stanley and two brothers, Charles Randall Welch and George H. Welch, Jr. Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Benjamin Triplett, grandson of Ms. Clifton. The family will receive friends at 2:00 pm Tuesday until time of the service at Moody Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
