Dorothy "Dot" Ann Bowman

Miss Dorothy Ann “Dot” Bowman, 67, of Mt. Airy passed away Tuesday morning, January 1, 2019 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  She was born in Stokes County on June 8, 1951 to the late Frank Akers and Elsie Louise Lankford Bowman.  Miss Bowman was a faithful member of White Plains Baptist Church.  A kind gentle woman whom never had children, but she was mother to many.  She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Clyde “Glenn” and Imogene Bowman; nieces and nephews and their spouses, Cynthia Parks, Randall Bowman and wife Carrie, Melissa Hawks, Pebbles Evans and husband, Garry, and Brad Bowman and wife Rachel; great-nieces and nephews, Hunter, Isabella and Luca Parks, Randall Bowman, Jr. and wife Hali, Allison McMillan and husband Truston, Amy Russell and husband, Cody, Raine and Abigail Bowman, Alexandria Hawks, Mercedes and Houston Wright, and Cameron, Cole and Chase Bowman; and great-great nieces, Keyana Martin and Rilee Bowman; an aunt, Jackie Dollyhite and many special cousins. .  In addition to her parents, Miss Bowman was preceded in death by her sister, Linda Kaye Bowman McBride; and by two brothers, James “Akers’ Bowman and Jerry Wayne Bowman.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 5, 2019 at White Plains Baptist Church with Rev. David Tucker, Rev. Bill Tucker, Rev. Tom Delph, Rev. Fred Miller and Rev. Dale Hawks officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the church Saturday from 12:30 until the time of the service and at other times at the home of her niece, Melissa Hawks.  Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to White Plains Baptist Church, 614 Old U.S. 601, Mt. Airy, NC 27030 or Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mt.
