Mrs. Dorothy "Dot" Lee Edwards, 81, passed away Thursday, February 3, 2011, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Rickie and Lillie Edwards, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Edwards was born November 22, 1929, in Surry County, to the late James Charlie and Nannie Wolfe Marion. She was a loving mother and grandmother and a member of Mayberry Baptist Church. Mrs. Edwards is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Roy Allen of Rural Hall and Janice and David Lowe of Mount Airy; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Craig and Linda Edwards and Rickie and Lillie Edwards, all of Dobson; twelve grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, James and Nancy Marion of Mount Airy; and a special son-in-law, Brent Wall and his wife, Melinda, of Dobson. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Columbus Edwards; two daughters, Joyce Edwards Wall and Vickie Jo Edwards; a grandchild; and two great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 5, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Mayberry Baptist Church, with Dr. Craig Edwards and the Rev. Brian Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in the Little Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Mayberry Baptist Church. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Surry County Senior Services and Stephanie Lankford and the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care.
