Dorothy Mae Jones

Mrs. Dorothy Mae Jones, 87, of Mount Airy, formerly of 1125 North Main Street in Randleman, passed away Thursday, November 25, 2010, at Golden Living Center in Galax, VA. Mrs. Jones was born April 17, 1923, in Surry County, to the late James William and Bessie Cook East. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She is survived by several nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Alma Jones of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Sanders Jones; two infant sons, Timmy Jones and Tommy Jones; two sisters, Myrtle Hawks and Jacqueline Worrell; and five brothers, Hassel East, Carl East, Odom East, Clyde Cook, and Walter Cook. A graveside service will be held Saturday, November 27, 2010, at 3:00 PM at the Red Bank Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Todd E. Byrd officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:30 until 2:30 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. The family would like to express their love and gratitude to her caregivers at Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, Wanda Wiles and Delma Bryant.
