Mrs. Dorothy Wood McCormick Marion, age 72 of Ararat, NC passed away unexpectedly on Friday evening January 11, 2007 at her home. She was born in Surry County to the late John Roosevelt Wood and the late Melie Hutchens Wood. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Evan McCormick; three brothers James, Gaither and Clarence Wood. She was a member of Hills Grove Baptist Church and was a self employed Accountant. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law T. Gary and Sandy McCormick of Dobson and Stanley W. and Sandra McCormick also of Dobson; two sisters and brother-in-law Barbara and T.G. Matthews of Yadkinville and Joyce Hutchins of Pilot Mtn.; by one brother and sister-in-law "Bud" and Ivan Mae Wood of Westfield; five grandchildren Tabitha Cleary, Jarret McCormick, Brandy Smith, William Hammond and Jill McCormick; five great-grandchildren Madison Cleary, Polly Cleary, Addison Smith, Olivia Hutchens and Blake McCormick. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday at Hills Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Emitt Crotts officiating. The family will receive friends for a closed casket visitation one hour prior to the service at Moody-Davis Funeral Home of Dobson. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the Hill's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund C/O Mary Lou Stewart 200 Stewart Rd., Pilot Mtn. NC 27041.
