Dorothy Tilley Milton

Mrs. Dorothy Tilley Milton, 78, of 2089 West Westmoreland Road, King, passed away Sunday morning, August 9, 2009, at her home. She was born November 21, 1931, in Surry County, to the late Hugh and Ollie Shaw Tilley. She was a homemaker and retired from Hanes Brands. Mrs. Milton was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Surviving are her husband, Brice Milton of the home; two daughters and a son-in-law, Janet Milton of King and Susan and Scott Slaydon of Key West, FL; two sons, Steven Milton of the home and Donald Milton of Rural Hall; six grandchildren and a spouse, Christopher Milton of King, Alison and husband, Joshua Lane, of Winston-Salem, Sarah Milton of Greensboro, Katie Lane of Charleston, SC, Ashley Milton of Pfafftown, and Joey Milton of King; a great-grandson, Jackson Lane of Winston-Salem; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Betty Louise and Bob Cole of Ararat, VA, and Mary Lee Greenwood of Kernersville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jimmy and Marilyn Tilley of Raymond, NH, and Gene and Myrtle Tilley of Barclay, MD. In addition to Mrs. Milton's parents, she was preceded in death by a son, David Milton; a sister, Gertrude Jessup; and two brothers, Winfred Hugh Tilley and David Tilley. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 12, 2009, at 2:00 PM at at Trinity United Methodist Church, with the Rev. David Childers officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Trinity United Methodist Church, where her body will remain until the hour of the funeral service.
