Dorothy Mae Heath Phillips

Mrs. Dorothy Mae Heath Phillips, 91, of 1201 Northridge Street, Mount Airy, passed away Monday afternoon, August 31, 2009, at her home. Mrs. Phillips was born April 22, 1918, in Carroll County, VA, daughter of the late John Henry and Ella Williams Heath. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist faith. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Janice and Ron Peters and Susie Lawson, all of Mount Airy; a son, Jim Phillips of DeLand, FL; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a brother and sister-in-law, Harvey and Barbara Heath of Mount Airy; and a special granddaughter and her husband, Misty and Johnny Puckett. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Riley Phillips; a daughter, Josephine Phillips; four sisters, Princie Leftwich, Sally Quesinberry, Argie Badgett, and Ossie Rumley; and two brothers, Carl Heath and Harmon Heath. The funeral service will be held Friday, September 4, 2009, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. David Joyce officiating. Burial will follow in the Saint Paul Church of the Brethren Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Tender Touch Home Care, especially special friends, Naomi Jessup and Robyn Doby, for the compassionate care given to Dorothy during her illness.
