Mrs. Dorothy Ileana Ward Taylor, 87, of 3362 Lambsburg Road, Lambsburg, VA, passed away Thursday morning, February 20, 2014, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Taylor was born November 27, 1926, in Carroll County, VA, the daughter of the late Bert C. and Della Bobbitt Ward. She was a homemaker and a member of Lambsburg Missionary Baptist Church. She is survived by a son and two daughters-in-law, Marty and Teresa Taylor and Faye Goad, all of Lambsburg, VA; five grandchildren and their spouses, Marsha and Jerry Hall of Cana, VA, Michelle and Lance Leftwich of Ararat, NC, Marlana and BJ Perry of Kannapolis, Josh and Malorie Taylor of Lowgap, and Alexis Taylor of Lambsburg, VA; three great-grandchildren, Grace Leftwich, Ellie Perry, and Sidon Taylor; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Bernell and Raymond Holder of Mount Airy, and Alice Mae Ward and Charles Hawks, both of Lambsburg, VA; a half-sister, Lena Minor of Mocksville; a sister-in-law, Eunice Ward of Lambsburg, VA; and a special caregiver and friend, Kelly Rippey. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Taylor, Jr.; a son, Mike Taylor; a sister, Kathleen Ward Hawks; and a brother, Ralph Ward. The funeral service will be held Sunday, February 23, 2014, at 2:00 PM at Lambsburg Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Israel Easter officiating. Burial will follow in the Chestnut Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. There will not be a formal visitation at the funeral home or church; however, the family will greet family and friends at Mrs. Taylor's home at any time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lambsburg Missionary Baptist Church, P.O. Box 85, Lambsburg, VA 24351; or Lambsburg Community Center, P.O. Box 70, Lambsburg, VA 24351. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the Taylor family.
